Operating a hockey organization for almost two decades is an incredible feat, however, it hasn't come without its challenges. The cost of rink rentals has grown over the past decade, and so has the cost of suiting up a hockey player to take the ice. The cost of one year of hockey can limit who plays: some families just can’t afford to pay registration and purchase equipment, let alone travel to rinks across the Greater Toronto Area to play games.
Donations play a large role in helping the organization maintain operation. With donations coming in, it helps keep the cost of registration for kids to sign up affordable, and helps make the cost of hockey equipment and travel for parents less stressful. Without a formal organization to help raise money, the burden falls on the parents, the community donations to keep things running. Sponsorship dollars also help to support the athletes and if the cost is reduced it helps attract more players.
The Mississauga Crusaders have spent nearly two decades making hockey accessible to people with special needs – and with your support, Crusader hockey hopes to be hitting the ice for future generations.
